After Ola Credit, the local cab-aggregator is now pushing Ola Money, a digital payment solution launched in 2015 to help people deal with demonetization. With Ola Money, users can make cashless payments at over 25 public utilities like electricity and gas across India.
Ola has added new features to Ola Money, enabling users to make payment at public utilities including Bengaluru's BESCOM, BSES Yamuna, Delhi's Rajdhani, Noida Power and Indraprastha Gas, Mumbai's Mahanagar Gas & Reliance Energy, Maharashtra's Mahavitaran and Rajasthan Vidhyut Vitran Nigam among others.
Pallav Singh, SVP, and Head of Ola Money said, “Ola Money is making payments seamless beyond mobility, in a variety of use cases every single day. With over 500 merchants already accepting Ola Money across India, we are proud to add 25 leading utilities to this list.
"In view of the recent demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes; cashless payments for various needs like mobility, food, travel, entertainment, shopping and now utility bills, becomes extremely convenient with Ola Money,” he further added.
PM Narendra Modi has been urging people to promote cashless economy, by using digital wallets like Paytm, Mobikwik, Freecharge. In order to support the movement, the Reserve Bank of India has increased maximum limit of money that can be kept in a digital wallet from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 until December 30th to facilitate convenient cashless transactions by citizens.
Recently, Ola also launched Ola Play to enjoy entertainment on the go.
