We see so many new designs and specs every day in the tech arena but nothing has really been able to challenge Apple's MacBook Air. But, that may soon not be the case. Chinese Smartphone Company Xiaomi has unveiled its very first laptop – and not only the design but the name also sounds similar to Apple’s Macbook Air.
Xiaomi will be unveiling its new Redmi Pro smartphone today at a press event in Beijing, where the company will also launch the “Mi Notebook Air”.
In a similar technique to Apple, Xiaomi's Mi Notebook Air comes in two sizes — 13.3-inch and 12.5-inch. The starting price is 3599 CNY, or around $540, for the 12.5-inch model with the larger, flagship model coming in at 4,999, or $750.
The windows will run with a full-HD display, full-metal body and type-C USB charging and two USB slots. The company’s ‘Xiaomi Sync’ software is pre-installed to pair data from a Xiaomi smartphone, and users can unlock the laptop using a Mi Band wearable.
The company is also promising an Intel Core i5 Processor with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 256GB PCIe SSD, and an expandable SSD slot. For games, there’s a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics card.
Xiaomi's Mi Notebook Air” will go on sale in China from August 2.
