The Consumer Electronics Show 2018 is still five days away but the excitement has already started building up. LG has unveiled a new 88-inch OLED TV with an 8K display ahead of the official launch at CES 2018 that is being touted as the biggest and highest-resolution OLED available in the market so far.
The South Korean electronics giant announced on Sunday that its new 88-inch 8K TV will be at its booth on the show floor. The eye-blowing 8K resolution, at 7,680x4,320 pixels, is four times that of 4K, and 16 times more than the standard full-HD, 1,080x1,920-pixel resolution.
The new model is an upgrade over LG’s existing 77-inch panel with 4K resolution. In terms of rivalry, the new LG TV will face competition from the likes of Samsung, which, as of now has an 88-inch TV. The TV features a 2,160p (4K) resolution, HDR, and built-in Wi-Fi. In terms of pricing, the Samsung’s 88-inch TV itself costs $20,000 (Rs 12,74,500). However, LG hasn’t revealed the price of the upcoming TV, but it surely will burn a hole in your pocket.
While 4K content is getting more common with 4K OLED screens getting more affordable, they still aren't the norm. So, there's no real need to start making prep for the gigantic 8K display that can wait for another few years.
