The 44th Reliance AGM has taken place on June 24 w.e.f. 2 PM IST. We expected to see a few big announcements, including the introduction of Jio 5G in the country. Further, keeping in mind all the speculations, we expect a new 5G phone, a new laptop besides the detailed 5G rollout plan.
Jio 5G phone, JioBook, 5G rollout plans
Reliance is anticipated to launch a new Jio 5G phone, in partnership with Google, at the AGM. Reports claim the phone may be priced under INR 5,000. Last year, the company had announced that it will announce affordable 4G and 5G phones based on the Android operating system.
Additionally, Reliance may also announce Jio's plans to roll out its 5G network. The company had earlier confirmed that 5G services would begin rollout in the second half of 2021 and Reliance may offer concrete details about the timeline. JioBook, a low-cost laptop, is also rumoured to be announced at the AGM. This laptop is expected to come with 4G LTE support priced under INR 10,000.

Android phone called Jio Phone Next

This goal is at the heart of our partnership with Reliance Jio,” said Sundar Pichai. “The next steps in this vision start with a new, affordable, Jio smartphone, created with Google. It is built for India and it will open up new possibilities for millions of new users who will experience the internet for the first time,” he added.
A new 5G partnership between Google Cloud and Jio will help more than a billion Indians connect to faster internet, support businesses in digital transformation. It will lay the foundation for the next phase of India’s digitization, the company said.
No Jio Laptop was announced in the AGM. The company also did not shed any light on its 5G rollout plan.
