JEE Main-NEET Exam Date: Papers likely in August and September

Due to the rise in Covid-19 Cases and lockdown-like restriction in the second wave, NTA had announced that it had cancelled JEE Main 2021 for the time being. Further, there were no reports on NEET 2021. But we need to understand one thing. To conduct NEET on August 1, NTA had to release the registration forms in June 1st week. That didn't happen. Thus, it is likely that both JEE Main-NEET exam stood postponed. This was just before EduMin announced the postponement of the CBSE Class 12 Board Exams. Later, when the Education Ministry decided to cancel Class 12 Board exams, speculative reports suggested that the ministry would make a final decision on these entrance exams too.

Thus, there was a lot of anticipation among the candidates for the dates of JEE Main-Neet Exam. There were speculations that NTA would perhaps conduct only one session of JEE Main 2021 after the March-April exam cancellation. But a PTI report suggests JEE Main exam conduction with a gap of 14-days on the July-August timeline. Further, the report quoted a source stating that NTA could push NEET 2021 to September. There has been no announcement on NEET 2021 exam - postponement or conduction, whatsoever.

Will JEE Main-NEET Exam be cancelled?

Cancelling the entrance exam is not a possibility many. The government conducted the exams last year, despite unfavourable circumstances. Further, it is also necessary to conduct JEE Main-NEET exams. They are precedent to admissions to the top engineering and medical institutes, respectively, of the country. Thus, decision-makers are trying to figure out a suitable timeline to conduct these examinations. NTA had already conducted the February and March exams for JEE Main 2021 out of the 4 attempts given this year.

Speculations had suggested two-attempt NEET 2021 twice. But, NTA announced a single exam date for August 1. Thus, cancelling NEET 2021 is an unlikely possibility. In fact, the registrations for NEET-UG 2021 are pending. As per the news agency PTI, a source stated, "The pending sessions of JEE Main 2021 are likely to be conducted either at the end of July or August with 14 days gap between the two exams and NEET is likely to be postponed to September."
