After Snapchat Stories, Instagram is ready to take another cue from the photo-sharing app. Instagram now offers geostickers in its ephemeral Stories feature, just like Snapchat.
Geostickers, which according to Instagram is an evolution of the stickers capability it introduced back in December, allows users to add illustrations to their Stories posts related to their locations.
Instagram announced in a blog post, "Today, we’re introducing an early version of geostickers in Instagram Stories for New York City and Jakarta."
Currently, the city and neighbourhood wide stickers are limited to New York City and Jakarta and are available as part of Instagram Stories’ location stickers.
Once you have updated your application, you will see geostickers at the top of the screen. "You may see other stickers appear when you’re visiting select neighbourhoods and landmarks — each one is designed to match the vibe of the location it represents," adds the blog post
Users can also add multiple stickers to a single story, adjust their size and placement and mix and match with other creative tools. In addition, followers can also tap on the geosticker to see the location page itself.
As Instagram said this is the early version, so a wider rollout to other cities will likely come soon.
The feature has already been rolled out globally. If you are yet to receive the feature, simply update your Instagram to version 10.11 available on both on iOS and Android.
