The applications to IIT Roorkee's PhD under PMRF started on June 5. And the end date is July 14. So, here are all the important details you need to know.
1. Who can apply?
To apply for the PhD under PMRF, you should have an integrated 5-years MTech or 2-years MSc or in any Science and Technology stream with 8 CGPA/GPI. If you are not from any of the IITs, you need to also have a GATE score of over 650.
Further, you can also apply if you have qualified GATE or/and pursuing/completed M.Tech/MS by research at one of the PMRF Granting Institutions. But here, you need to have a minimum CGPA or CPI of 8.0 at the end of the first semester with a minimum of four courses.
2. How to apply?
First, you need to download and fill this form. Then convert it to a PDF and along with these documents (under one single pdf), mail it to pmrfadmission@iitr.ac.in on/before June 14. Also, the documents needed are Degree certificates / Marksheets / GATE Scorecard or as asked under the form.
There is no application fee.
3. What is a Statement of Purpose?
You will have to submit your ‘Statement of Purpose’ (Department/Centre wise separately) which will include:
(i) Interested Area of Research
(ii) A Synopsis
(iii) Details of Research Publications in Reputed Journals (if any)
(iv) Details of National / International Conference attended or paper presented.

There are 20 departments this year under IIT Roorkee's PhD program. They are:

5. Warnings from IIT Roorkee
You can apply to multiple departments. But you will have to send separate "Statement of Purpose". Further, IIT Roorkee has also advised to fill out the forms diligently and put all correct information only as they will verify everything. You need to keep the designated email always active, as all communications will be made through the email only. Also, you can't re-email the university in case of incorrect information.
