IIT Mandi is conducting PhD Admissions in the School of Basic Science for 4 subjects. These are- Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences and Mathematics and Statistics. Engineers and Postgraduates can apply to the position.

What are the requirements?
T0 apply for the course you will need the following:
- Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record with a valid GATE score or UGC or CSIR NET
OR
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology with a good academic record
OR
- BTech degree of any IIT with a minimum of CGPA of 8.0 on a 10.0 point scale or with a valid GATE Score
OR
- BTech or BE degree of any recognized University in India with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 on a 10.0 point scale. Or equivalent with valid GATE score
What are the subjects available at IIT Mandi PhD?
The four subjects are:
1. Physical sciences: Nanomaterials, Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Computational magnetics and material informatics, X-ray spectroscopy, Low-Temperature Physics, Theoretical condensed matter physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Raman and Infrared Spectroscopy, Quantum Optics, Quantum Information and Nanophotonics, Optoelectronic properties of nanoscale materials and Bio-molecular simulation/ Statistical Physics of complex systems.
2. Chemical Sciences: Materials Chemistry, X-ray Science, Organic Chemistry, Chemistry of Nanomaterials, Inorganic/ Materials/ NanoChemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Functional polymers and Nanomaterials, Smart Materials, Biodegradable Polymers, Biomaterials, Physical Chemistry, Computational Chemistry and Catalysis, Theoretical Chemistry, Design and development of new functional Nanomaterials for the application of renewable energy and Nano-electronics and sensor.
3. Biological Sciences: Nanobiotechnology, Immunology/ Microbiology, Biophysics and protein folding, Intrinsically Disordered Proteins, T Cell Engineering, Protein Engineering, Metabolic Systems Biology (Fluxomics and metabolomics), Plant and microbial metabolism, NMR and GC-MS, Metabolic diseases, extracellular matrix, Proteomics, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Metagenomics,
