IIT Delhi has organised this course while keeping in mind the growing usage of AI in every industry. The course introduces a variety of concepts in the field of artificial intelligence. It discusses the philosophy of AI; how to model a new problem as an AI problem. It describes a variety of models such as search, logic, Bayes nets, and MDPs, which can be used to model a new problem. It also teaches many first algorithms to solve each formulation.
The objective of this IIT Delhi AI course is to prepare a student to take a variety of focused, advanced courses in various subfields of AI. The course is designed to develop a basic understanding of problem-solving, knowledge representation, reasoning and learning methods of AI.
Who can enrol in the course?
This is an Undergraduate computer science level course. But anyone can enrol in the course. The only prerequisite is you should know Data Structures, Probability. You also should have the desire to expand the horizon of your knowledge. Moreover, this course is a must-take for people in the Robotics Industry, Neuroscientists, Psychologists, Research scholars in the field of AI.
Timeline of the course
This Elective course has a duration of 12 weeks. It will start from 18 January 2021 and end on 09 April 2021. If you want the certificate, you have to give a proctored exam on 25 April 2021. The last date to enrol is 25 January 2020.
Who will teach this AI course?
Prof. Mausam will lead the course. He is an Associate Professor of Computer Science department at IIT Delhi; and an affiliate faculty member at University of Washington, Seattle. Also, he received his PhD from the University of Washington in 2007 and a B.Tech. from IIT Delhi in 2001. His primary research interest explores several threads in artificial intelligence, including scaling probabilistic planning algorithms, large-scale information extraction over the Web, and enabling complex computation over crowdsourced platforms. This translates into interest in bio-mimetic prosthetics; cognition and cognitive vision.
H. ArnetMiner, a global citation aggregator, has rated Mausam as the 25th most influential scholar in AI for 2019. He was recently awarded the AAAI Senior Member status for his long-term participation in AAAI and distinction in the field of artificial intelligence.

How to obtain a certificate from IIT Delhi?
The course is free to enrol and learn. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the optional proctored exam. The fee for this exam is ₹ 1000. Also, the successful completion of the exam does not guarantee a certificate. To get a certificate, you need to get 25% from the assignments and 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100.
Final score = Average assignment score (>10/25) + Exam score (>30/75). If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score > 40/100.
This printable certificate will carry the stamp from both NPTEL and IIT Delhi.
