IIM CAT 2020: Registrations begun on August 5. Here's how to apply, registration link, subjects and documents list

CAT 2020: The online registration process for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2020 started on August 5. This year, Indian Institute of Management- Indore will conduct the exam. If you wish to apply to an MBA program in prestigious colleges, CAT is a mandatory exam. The last date to apply for the exam is September 26. IIM Indore will conduct CAT 2020 on November 29, 2020; for which the admit cards will be out on October 28.

What is CAT 2020?

The Common Admission Test (CAT ) is a computer-based test for admission in a graduate management program. It consists of three sections

- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (34 questions) <24 questions of reading comprehension and 10 questions of verbal ability>

- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (32 questions)

- Quantitative Ability (34 questions)

Overall it’s a three-hour online exam; one hour each section. Further, you score +3 points for each correct answer and -1 point for each incorrect answer. There ate no points for questions that you don't answer.

How to Register?

First, visit the official website of IIM CAT at iimact.ac.in. Then register as a new candidate and fill the registration form. Upload your documents (list given below). Then, enter your marks and work experience. Lastly, select your exam city, interview city and programmes that interest you. Pay the application fee.

Eligibility criteria

If you hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, you are eligible to apply. If you have completed a professional degree like CA/CS/ICWA, you are eligible to apply. Students in their final year of Bachelor’s Program can apply too.

On the other hand, for SC/ST/OBC Students, the percentage requirement is 45%.

Documents needed

Apart from your 10th-12th mark sheet, you will need your graduation mark sheet. You will also need a photograph and a digital signature. Later, as and when needed, you will require the following documents:

• Scribe Affidavit, Identification Affidavit, NC-OBC/ SC-ST Certificate, EWS Certificate or Disability Certificate (PwD).

Fees

SC, ST and PwD category candidates have to pay a non-refundable online application fee of Rs 1000. On the other hand, all other category students have to pay Rs 2000.

Statutory warning from IIM Indore

The conducting authority, IIM Indore has stated that they are conducting CAT 2020 taking into account the COVID-19 crisis. It further added, "The information provided by the CAT website is contingent upon the decisions and directions issued from time to time by the Central & State governments and IIMs. Candidates are advised to regularly check the CAT website for further information."
