HTC has announced its President of Smartphone and Connected Devices Chialin Chang has resigned. The move first spotted by Engadget is effective immediately. There's no word on who will take over this role.
Chang previously held positions as HTC’s Chief Financial Officer, and between 2013 and 2017 its Head of Global Sales. He was reportedly one of its last high-level executives to remain with the company. Chang cites his "personal career plan" as the reason for his resignation.
HTC told Engadget, "We can confirm Chialin Chang has resigned from his position as President of the Smartphone and Connected Devices Business at HTC. We thank him for his dedication to the Company for the last six years and wish him well in his future endeavors." The resignation of Chang isn’t the only high-level departure at HTC that has taken place this year. Last month, COO David Chen also left the company to join Google.
The news comes after Google signed a $1.1 billion deal to acquire a team of HTC employees, many of whom have worked with the company on its Pixel smartphone.
With the departure of Chang, the smartphone division of HTC remains unknown.
