HP has unveiled a pocket-sized printer named Sprocket that allows users to take prints of the photos from their mobile phones instantly. The device will be available in India through Amazon and HP India’s website for Rs 8,999 from September 14.
“While smartphones have made it very simple to store our memories digitally, the power of printing photographs cannot be undermined. The moment a digital photograph gets printed it becomes a tangible treasure one can cherish for life” said Raj Kumar Rishi, Senior Director, Printing Systems, HP India. “ HP’s Sprocket printer allows users to print their treasured memories instantly on-the go with just a few taps. Customers remain to be at the heart of HP’s business and our constant endeavor has been to design products and services that enhance their overall brand experience," he added.
Users can connect the printer with their Android and iOS-based phones using Bluetooth. With the HP Sprocket app, users can also edit the pictures and add borders and emojis as well, before taking 2X3 inches prints of the photographs. The companion app enables users to print photographs directly from their social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram as well as choosing from their phone’s camera roll. The app supports a wide range of image formats including jpeg, gif and png.
The printer uses a special photo paper that is based on ZINK technology. These will be available for Rs 539 (pack of 20) and Rs 1,249 (pack of 50). A pack of 10 papers will come with the box at the time of purchase.
The device will be available in three color variants- black, red and white. It is already available in the US, China and Australia.
