HMD Global, the new home for Nokia phones made the most awaited announcement of MWC in the form of a new version of the cult status game, Snake and a rebirth of one of the best-selling feature phones of all time, Nokia 3310.
Boasting an incredible 22-hour talk-time and month long standby, the Nokia 3310’s fresh, colourful, modern design brings it bang up to date. The Nokia 3310 is available in four distinctive colours – Warm Red and Yellow, both with a gloss finish, and Dark Blue and Grey both with a matte finish. The phone with a slew of modern upgrades, such as Bluetooth, Camera, MicroSD card and 3.5mm headphone jack will retail at an average global retail price of €49 (approx Rs 3,500).
The other big new is for Snake enthusiasts. The legendary game is now available for Messenger, part of Facebook’s Instant Games cross-platform experience. The world famous game will be snaking its way back into people’s hearts and is designed to be played with groups of friends, making it even more playable than the first time around.
‘The Snake game was the most popular game in the history of Nokia phones, in fact, the true origin of mobile gaming can be traced back to a Nokia handset released in 1997. To this day it has remained hugely popular, not only because it carries a strong sense of nostalgia but because this was the first ever mobile gaming experience for many consumers. The opportunity to partner with Facebook, the social media platform that has single-handedly defined the social media landscape, is an incredible opportunity. We were truly excited to work with them to bring back Snake in a modern format to a global audience. We hope in its new format it unites people across the world and brings as much joy to players as it did the first time around,’ said Pekka Rantala, Chief Marketing Officer of HMD Global.
A revamped version of Snake will also be pre-installed on the new Nokia 3310.
