HMD Global, the company responsible for bringing back Nokia has launched a new entry-level smartphone. The new smartphone called Nokia 2 will have a global price of EUR 99(Rs 7,500) and will be available in markets from mid-November. The smartphone will be available in three color variants- Copper Black, Pewter Black, and White.
The smartphone sports a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) resolution LTPS screen with 16:9 aspect ratio. The device is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor. Nokia 2 supports 1GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card. It also uses Gorilla Glass 3 layer on top of its screen and a polycarbonate body at the back. The phone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will soon be getting Android 8.0 Oreo.
In terms of optics, the phone comprises of an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera. Connectivity options of the smartphone include GPS, GLONASS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, FM Radio, and Bluetooth. It measures 143.5x71.3x9.30mm and supports dual SIM cards (Nano). HMD Global claims the smartphone to feature a 4100mAh battery, which can run for 2 days. The Android Nougat-based Nokia 2 has access to Google Assistant, and HMD boasts it is the only phone in the segment with the feature.
Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, and proximity sensor. The phone is IP-52 rated (for drip protection).
