Elon Musk doesn't do idle talk even if it might sound so. While many sceptics thought that Musk's 'boring' plans are only wishful thinking, his startup, The Boring company recently took delivery of its first giant boring machine.
The mammoth tunnel digger unveiled by a SpaceX engineer on his Instagram page was first spotted by Business Insider. And by the looks of the gigantic cylinder, one can easily gauge how serious Musk is to build a network of tunnels under dense urban development to help alleviate traffic problem.
These tunnels, possibly a solution for traffic mess in urban areas, are expected to house anything from cars and buses to subways. And who knows we could even have Hyperloop pods running inside the tunnels someday.
In one of his recent interviews, Musk said that he believes there’s more potential in digging down under cities than in trying to build networks of flying vehicles, in terms of both technical advancement required and regulatory roadblocks.
