Focusing on supporting the workflows of larger organizations, the new updates are expected to step up Google suite’s productivity.

The tech giant on its official blog page said, "One of the core promises of Google Docs is to help you and your team go from collecting ideas to achieving your goals as quickly and easily as possible. That’s why last month we launched Explore in Docs, Sheets and Slides — with machine intelligence built right in — to help your team create amazing presentations, spreadsheets, and documents in a fraction of the time it used to take."

The company further stated, "Today, we’re introducing five new time-saving features designed to speed up and simplify the way you work, so you can focus on bringing your team’s ideas to life."

Let's get started with the updates:

1. Assigning work just got easy:

Yes, the most preferred job in any profile - the assigning job has been made easy by Google. Whenever you type something on Docs like “Jerry create a document with all the upcoming earnings,” it will automatically suggest that you create an action item and assign this to the specific person. Once you assign the work, that person will get an email.

The automatic feature only works in Docs on the desktop, though, while manual assignments work in Docs, Sheets, and Slides on desktop and mobile.

In case, it is you who has been assigned to work on the file which requires action, it will stand out and get your attention. Google said, "Next time they visit Docs, Sheets, Slides (or Drive) from their laptops or mobile apps, they’ll see a badge on any files with Action Items assigned to them." The same procedure applies to any unresolved suggestions that others may have made with respect to your files.

3. Google's smart Forms:

We create and submit a hundred forms every month. Now Google wants to reduce 25 percent of the time required for the time-consuming procedure. "With the help of neural networks, we can now predict the type of question you’re asking and suggest potential responses for you to choose from", said Google.
Moreover, Google also debuted a “File upload” question type feature. Your respondents can now upload files from their computer or Drive — all of which are neatly collected for you in a new Drive folder. However, it is available only for G Suite customers in Forms shared within their organization.

With today's update, Google added more ways to format and customize content with Voice typing commands in Docs for changing text color, deleting words, inserting links and comments, plus a number of other ways to format, hands-free.

5. Create new document with Slack

With Google's new partnership with Slack, it will be easier for you to switch between apps. Simply, with a click of the "+" button in Slack, you can bring files from Drive directly into a conversation with your team, or create new Docs, Sheets and Slides files right from Slack. Basically, it will let you create a new document or import a file from Google Drive.
