Though Google’s messaging app created a lot of buzz but it somehow failed to take-off as Google wanted it to. And amongst the many reasons for the same, one was the lack of Allo’s desktop version. Fortunately, that will soon be there.
Google is working on Allo’s web version and VP of communications products Nick Fox has given us an early glimpse at it. According to Fox, the screen above is from an early version of Allo's web interface.
Still in early development, but coming to a desktop near you... #GoogleAllo#SneakPeekpic.twitter.com/f7QNFH7IHO

From the screenshot, it appears that Allo will follow in the footsteps of WhatsApp, offering a web client that runs in your browser before rolling out a full-fledged desktop app. The web version will support Google Assistant, and offer similar functionality as the mobile app, including emojis, stickers, smart replies, and the ability to share media.
This should be a big leap for Allo. The app is currently limited to phones and only a single device. If you switch phones, you have to set up Allo all over again, and you lose your history. Presumably, the web version will always have that backed up regardless of the phone you use.
But as far as its release goes, no timeline has been given as Fox writes that it is still in early development.
