One of the biggest problems in India is finding Clean Toilets, if not lavatory itself. Even in developed or urban cities of India, it is very hard to find a clean toilet. Due to which many people end up either using poor toilet rooms or restaurants washroom. Mostly, we end up in the latter.
Well, that is about to change. Google is getting ready to fight the sanitation problem of India. In partnership with the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), the tech giant will help us to locate clean Toilets with 'Toilet Locator'.
Starting with Delhi, the capital region of India, Google will start a feature within Google Maps to offer a convenient way to find the quickest way to a clean toilet or restrooms available outside as well as in public places like gas stations, malls, and hospitals among other places.
According to IBTimes report, maps will begin to understand keywords such as "toilet," "lavatory," and Hindi words "swach", "shulabh", "swachhata", and "shauchalay".
Citing a ministry official, the report quotes, "The system being put in place relies heavily on crowdsourcing, with people’s feedback helping fuel it. Therefore, if a person finds that a toilet is not clean, he or she can give it a bad review or rating, the facility for which is available on Google Maps.”
Expected to be launched by the end of this month, the feature is reportedly being piloted under Government of India's Swachhata Pakhwada, or Cleanliness Fortnight campaign.
Notably, this is not the first such attempt by Google to help the people the India. Recently, Google partnered with the rail ministry to introduce RailTel Wi-Fi services at crowded railway stations across the country.
