Google recently launched the second generation of Pixel smartphones amidst rave reviews and reception. But some early owners have raised concerns about smartphone's OLED screen including color reproduction, and screen burn-in. Some others have also reported clicking sounds from their Pixel 2's speaker. Addressing all these concerns, the search engine company has finally issued a statement.
Google says that it stands by its screen but will nevertheless issue some software updates to expand its color gamut and protect it against screen burn-in. It will also offer a two-year warranty on Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones.
"Our investigation so far has given us confidence that our displays are as great as we hoped they would be, though we’re also taking steps to address the concerns we've heard," VP of product management Mario Queiroz noted in a post in the Google Pixel support forums.
Google also says their investigations into the burn-in issue revealed that "the differential aging is in line with that of other premium smartphones and should not affect the normal, day-to-day user experience of the Pixel 2 XL." The firm, however, said updates that will be pushed out in near future will further optimize the software that's used to to safeguard the user experience and maximize the life of the OLED display.
