Valentine's Day is just around the corner and Google wants to cash in on the opportunity. Google Photos has launched a new feature that lets you turn your photos into specially themed videos. While you must be thinking that the app used to periodically craft these on its own, the difference this time is that now you too can give your input allowing for the manual creation of videos that were previously automatically generated. This new feature is available on the app and web.
Google Photos will have a 'Movie' option under the Assistant label. From here, you can choose from nine movie themes to create a clip with all your favorite photos. The themes include ‘Meow Movie’, ‘Doggie Movie’, and the special ‘Valentine’s Day Movie’ and many more.
According to Google, “You might have seen Google Photos automatically create these movies for you before—but now, you have the ability to create one whenever you want. With a range of themes, from ‘They Grow Up So Fast’ to the feline favorite ‘Meow Movie,’ it’s the perfect way to celebrate all of your favorite people, furry friends, and treasured moments.”
To create a themed movie, open the Google Photos app, go to the Assistant tab, and tap Movie. Once you have chosen the theme of your liking, Google will use machine learning to sift through your library and select photos corresponding to the theme, and then add a soundtrack to finish the movie. If you want to edit the clip, you can do so using the movie editor in the app version of Google Photos.
The themed movies have rolled out in most countries. Google plans to add more movie themes through the year.
