In a bid to expand its Android Pay service, Google has partnered with Visa and Mastercard to enable users to make payments on sites, where either of Visa Checkout or Masterpass are accepted.
Visa Checkout and Masterpass are both payment systems created and maintained by Visa and Mastercard respectively that work with the existing debit and credit cards and provide a safe and hassle free way to perform transactions across all devices, anywhere in the world.
Starting early 2017, mobile users will be able to purchase from a variety of websites without having to enter a username or password. Instead, they will merely rely on the device’s authentication methods like fingerprint scanning. To get started, customers will have to link their accounts to the respective services in the Android Pay app.
Not just this, Google has made it easier for merchants as well. Those who already have Visa Checkout and Masterpass on their website won’t have to do anything extra, as the buttons will update itself automatically.
With the expansion of Android Pay, merchants are expected to see higher conversion rates and Google might find the popularity of its payments solution increasing as more and more merchants take it on through partnerships like those with Mastercard and Visa.
