Clearing the cloud of rumor mills, the much-awaited Android Wear 2.0 is going to make its much-awaited entry on February 9, reports VentureBeat.

In partnership with the South-Korean tech titan LG, Google will unveil the first devices powered by Android Wear 2.0 - the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style.

Considering the launch date, we can also expect the watches to be displayed at LG’s booth at Mobile World Congress, which starts on February 27 in Barcelona.

The news comes from the well-known and trusted mobile reporter Evan Blass. He confirmed the news in a tweet, as usual.

Once the official launch takes off, the Nexus-style watches will be available in the U.S. The broader rollout to other areas will continue in February and March.

The Android Wear 2.0 Watch Sport will be 14.2-millimeters thick and will come in titanium and dark blue variants. The 10.8-millimeter thick Watch Style will be available in titanium, silver, and rose gold, with its swappable straps.

Watch Sport will come with 1.38 inches (480 x 480) high-resolution screen and 430mAh battery, whereas Watch Style will come with 1.2-inch (360 x 360) high-resolution screen with a 240mAh battery.

Both the devices will feature touch-sensitive circular, plastic OLED displays and will feature Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. They will also support iOS and will bear a digital crown button that serves to facilitate navigation. The watches will also sport handwriting recognition. Although both the devices will have 4GB internal storage, Watch Sport will have 768MB RAM, whereas Style will have 512MB RAM.

The Sport model will also bring 3G and LTE data cellular connectivity, GPS and NFC radios, which will allow the users to take advantage of Android Wear 2.0’s Android Pay capability.

As Google confirmed earlier, the update will be rolled out to selected smartwatches. The list includes Moto 360 Gen 2 and 360 Sport, LG Watch Urbane and G Watch R, Casio Smart Outdoor Watch, Tag Heuer Connected, Fossil Q Marshal, Michael Kors Access Dylan Smartwatch, Huawei Watch, Asus ZenWatch 2 among others.
