Google has integrated a chat option in digital payments app Google Tez. The payment application which runs on the Unified Payments Interface railroads will now allow consumers to not only send money to each other but also open up an option for conversation around the transaction.
A spokesperson for Google, said, "We’ve added a feature to Tez that allows you to send simple messages back and forth to your contacts about the payments you make.”
According to an Economic Times report, the ultimate aim of Tez is to make transactions as simple as sending messages, which can help consumers avoid complicated bank account numbers and wait for them to be added as beneficiaries. The chat option will also help consumers track their transaction history and improve the customer experience.
The feature will be similar to what Paytm introduced last year. Paytm added "Inbox", with features such as share photos, videos, and location as well as the ability to recall sent messages.
The feature isn't available to all Google Tez users and is initially rolling out at a slow pace. It is only accessible if both parties are running the latest version of the Tez app on their mobile devices.
