Google has got another startup under its wing. The Alphabet subsidiary Google has announced the acquisition of FameBit, a technology platform that connects video creators with marketers who want to sponsor their content.
Obviously, it is for Google’s video platform YouTube. With the latest acquisition, Google is hoping to bolster branded content deals in online video segment and also earn more revenues.
YouTube’s Ariel Bardin said, "YouTube expands creator outreach with new features, better support. Creators will always have the choice in how they work with brands, and there are many great companies who provide this service today. This acquisition doesn’t change that."
"Our hope is that FameBit’s democratized marketplace will allow creators of all sizes to directly connect with brands, as well as provide a great technology solution for companies like MCNs and agencies to find matches for their creators and brand partners," he further added.
FameBit founders David Kierzkowski and Agnes Kozera said in their own blog post, “With Google’s relationship with brands large and small, and YouTube’s partnership with creators around the globe, we hope to connect even more brands to creators, engage more audiences, and make brand marketing more creative and authentic than ever.”
FameBit, which has been used to create more than 25,000 videos, will continue to operate independently for the foreseeable future.
The terms of the deal are yet to be disclosed.
