Enterprise software maker Freshdesk has rebranded itself under the name Freshworks, primarily to reflect the company's full product offerings, which have moved beyond help desk services.
“We felt that the company brand (Freshdesk) was not doing justice to the other products. It was limiting our ability to tell our multi-product story to the world,” said Girish Mathrubootham, chief executive of Freshworks.
While Freshdesk is its biggest product on the market, the company also has an IT support service called Freshservice, a CRM tool called Freshsales and a cloud-based call center service called Freshcaller. Apparently, the company had been toying with the idea since April last year and decided to go ahead with rebranding itself around three months ago after Freshsales was launched last year and crossed the 1,000-plus customer mark.
“While it might be considered a risky move, particularly when the brand is established, we also did not want to give away the multi-product strategy until we really had enough products,” he added.
Freshworks, which is based in San Bruno, California, and has a large presence in Chennai, has raised about $150 million to date. While it raised $50 million from Tiger Global Management in April 2015, in November, the company raised $55 million from investors such as Sequoia Capital and Accel Partners.
