Flipkart has acquired mobiles and IT repair services startup F1 Info Solutions, the company announced on Tuesday. The Mumbai-based company will become a part of Jeeves that Flipkart invested in 2014. Jeeves specializes in providing after-sales service for large and small home appliances and furniture.
As smartphones account for a major portion of Flipkart sales, the acquisition will help the e-tailer gain access to its own chain of service centres across the country.
“Flipkart is the top destination for mobile phones in India. We are now taking our offerings several notches higher. Ultimately, we want to give our customers a comprehensive service ecosystem that takes care of repair and service needs of all their products,” said Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO at Flipkart, in a statement.
Following the acquisition, F1 Info Solutions’ co-founder and CEO, Shammi Moza will join Flipkart as a Senior Director and will continue to be in charge of day-to-day operations of the business.
F1 Info Solutions claims to have a repair service network of around 158 centres across 135 cities. Besides mobiles and IT products, the company also repairs and services consumer electronics, AV devices and smart classroom technology. The company claims to receive over 50,000 service calls per month.
F1 Info is also a certified partner for several global consumer technology majors such as Apple, Samsung, HP, Lenovo, Sony and Asus.
