Facebook is testing 4K video upload feature that would make the videos in your news feed a lot sharper. The social networking giant confirmed to TechCrunch that the company is starting to test 4K video support by giving a small group of profiles and pages the ability to upload 4K videos at 2160p resolution — the same standard as 4K Ultra HD sets.

YouTube has been working with 4K video since 2010, with the 4K live streaming rolling out last year. So, it makes sense for Facebook to roll out 4K video support as the company is into developing original video content with more than two dozen shows in the Watch tab.

Facebook won't say if or when it plans to expand the upload support to more accounts, but the current test should be a promising sign to content creators even if it's coming much later than many would have hoped.

Meanwhile, you can make sure you’re watching on the maximum resolution by hitting the gear icon on a Facebook video and switching to 2160p, aka 4K, if it’s available.
