BANGALORE, INDIA: Facebook’s Internet.org app will now be available in India, offering a set of basic services including health, education, finance, jobs, search, communication and local information. Facebook has joined hands with Reliance Communications(RCom) for this.
Reliance customers in six Indian states (Tamil Nadu, Mahararashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, and Telangana) will now have access to more than three dozen services in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati and Marathi.
Reliance customers in India can access these services in the Internet.org Android app, at www.internet.org, from the start screen of the Opera Mini mobile web browser, and using the Android app UC Browser for Internet.org.
Users can access 38 partner websites for news, maternal health, travel, local jobs, sports, communication, and local government information. No additional data charges apply.
Bing is the primary search engine for the Internet.org app in India, which will be made available later today to Reliance customers in India.
