After stealing Stories and Face filters from Snapchat and incorporating it in Instagram, Facebook's Messenger has set its eyes on Snapchat's Streaks this time, a game that encourages friends to send messages back and forth for consecutive days. Twitter user Case Sandberg was the first to spot the new feature.

Just like Snapchat, Facebook Messenger streaks show an emoji status for the person you’re in a streak with. Currently, the feature is perhaps being tested on limited accounts and it’s not clear when Facebook will make the feature available across all accounts.
Facebook confirmed that it is testing the new feature to Mashable, "For example, a lightning bolt may appear next to the name of a person you’ve messaged with for at least three days in a row, and a counter will indicate how many consecutive days you’ve been chatting. We’re interested to see if people enjoy this insight, but we don’t have any additional information to share at this time."
Snapchat’s streaks have been very popular amongst the youth and have allowed Snapchat to maintain a steady daily active user count. In fact, it even warns users when their streaks are going to expire.
