Facebook has added video chat feature to its lightweight app- Messenger Lite. The app will offer users to stay connected to their family and friends in areas with a slower internet connection.
The social networking company states, "Video chats are an expected and essential part of everyday communication in today’s messaging experience. Chatting face-to-face live is perfect for those moments when you want to see and hear the voices of people you care about most – whether you’re wishing someone a happy birthday, you have some great news to share, or you spontaneously want to catch up on the day."
To use the new video chat feature, you can open an existing chat conversation with whom you want to make a video call and tap on the particular option seen in the top right corner. You can also upgrade an audio call to a video chat while still in the call by tapping the video icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. However, the feature will only work if the user has the latest version of the Messenger Lite app.
Messenger Lite offers messaging capabilities like sending text, photos, links, and audio calls to people with either Messenger Lite or Messenger. Due to its less size, the Messenger Lite app is quick to install and run.
The feature has been rolled out for global users.
