Facebook is upping its ante so that you are never away from the social media platform. Besides the slew of other services, Facebook is now rolling out a new food ordering option on its app and desktop site that will let you order food from your favorite restaurants without having to search a delivery service or restaurant’s own app or website.
Just go to the desktop “Explore” section, or the app menu, and click on the hamburger icon, and you’ll be redirected to a page full of nearby restaurants that deliver through Facebook. A tap on the restaurant's image will take you to its Facebook page, or you can just hit Start Order to get directly to the menu.
TechCrunch says the new service is an extension of an earlier feature- partnership between Facebook and food delivery sites Delivery.com and Slice that lets you order directly from a restaurant's Facebook page.
Apparently, the feature is still rolling out and its availability has been patchy for some users with option appearing and disappearing on successive attempts. For some others, its showing there aren’t places that can deliver to you right now.
Mark Zuckerberg's company may have been clocking in big numbers but Facebook looks far from saturation point. With the ever increasing suite of features like 'City Guides', 'Discover People', 'Weather' etc, the social networking giant wants to be the one-stop destination for all your needs.
