Rocket maker SpaceX has raised another $100 million in an extension to an earlier financing round when it raised $350 million, according to a regulatory filing.
The new follow-on funding puts SpaceX’s total post-money valuation at $21.5 billion.
The amended filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission didn’t disclose who led the financing. Elon Musk's SpaceX has spearheaded the move toward private companies building and launching rockets in the space industry.
The California-based company has also outlined plans for a trip to Mars in 2022, to be followed by a manned mission to the red planet by 2024.
