EdTech Unacademy acquires majority stake in Networking Platform TapChief

Edtech Unicorn Unacademy has acquired a majority stake in TapChief. Post the acquisition, TapChief will join the Unacademy Group with a valuation of Rs 100 crore. Further, with this move, Unacademy has offered an exit to all the existing investors of TapChief. This acquisition will help the edtech to build and scale ‘Unacademy Pro’ coming out soon. Unacademy Pro will start training software engineers and management students in sales.

Only recently, Byju's has acquired its rival Toppr to strengthen the K-12 students base. The acquisition marks a three-horse race in the Edtech segment with Byju's, Unacademy and Vedantu at the lead.

In a press statement, Gaurav Munjal, Co-founder and CEO, Unacademy Group stated that they aim to democratise education. “Our endeavour is to make learning accessible and affordable for everyone. TapChief shares a similar ethos in a different space. This is evident from the open community of professionals and learners they’ve created. Shashank and his team have delivered promising results in a short span of time,” he further added.
