It is International Earth day today. Many companies, like Google, are celebrating it in their way. So is Snapchat. Snapchat has added two new filters and one new game in tribute to Earth Day. The new lenses are in support with the theme of this year- Climate change.
Filter 1: Lovely Planet
The "Lovely Planet" Lens is a simple filter that shows two Earths on your cheeks. It also showcases the quote "One Earth, One Love" on the head. The filter is only available in selfie mode.
Filter 2: Earth in Hand
The "Earth in Hand" lens is in connection with the United Nations' Environment Programme. The lens read: "We are in this together" and "COVID-19 response".
The lens has a magnifying glass that says look for the hand. When it sees a hand, it places a miniature image of rotating animated Earth on the hand. The filter is available for both selfie and back camera mode.
Game 1: Earth Expert
"Earth Expert" is a lens-cum-game by Snapchat. On the screen, a tiny Earth is moving around with the text "Catch Me". When you "catch" the Earth with a finger, it poses a question related to Earth's environment and best practices. On selfie mode, it also dresses your head in a green tiara.
If you answer it correctly, you can pass the game to your friends. It has a series of questions.
On another note, Snapchat has last year launched a new Lens that showed the projected water line in the year 2100. The goal of this feature was to show users what the world will look like if emissions continue without change. It is in support with the United Nations and available to iOS users.
But this year, it is more interactive and playable with fewer consequences. Make sure you use these filters because they will be gone by tomorrow.
