Disney took the opportunity of Coronavirus Pandemic and has rebranded Hotstar to Disney+Hotstar. Walt Disney had earlier acquired Star Networks owned the 21st Century Fox and thus, Hotstar. With the new logo and the new name, comes a new package.
More shows, more cartoons, more movies and all of it at a new affordable price. The rebranded Disney+Hotstar has released two new packs.
1. Disney+Hotstar VIP @ INR 399
2. Disney+Hotstar Premium @ INR 1499
The existing plans were INR 365 and INR 999 respectively.
The change in plans proposed a question for the existing Hotstar premium holders.
Do I have to pay the extra INR 500 for Disney+Hotstar?
Well, the good news is, if you have paid INR 999 on or before April 2, you don't have to pay any extra amount.
You will be billed INR 1499 from the next cycle.
Existing Hotstar customers will continue with their subscription plans. Once the subscription expires, they will move to the upgraded plans and pay the remainder.
What new does Disney+Hotstar partnership bring?
1. The most important bit of this upgrade is the integration of Disney+ content. There’s a separate section for Disney+ on the app where users will find all the available content.
2. It comes with parental controls. There’s a ‘Kids Safe’ mode which can be turned on for age-appropriate content.
3. The app still has the same old UI of Hotstar.
4. Hotstar has also changed its logo to Disney+Hotstar.
5. VIP content will have V on the top-left corner and Premium content will have P.
6. The VIP pack has only increased with INR 34 from the existing pack.
7. Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscribers will have additional access to English language content and 29 Disney+ Originals. These including ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘High School Musical’, and ‘Lady and the Tramp’, as well as the latest American shows from studios like HBO, Fox and Showtime.
The official Disney+Hotstar content has become available from April 3rd.
