How has Covid-19 accelerated the transition to digital for the IT industry? What will be the new normal in the IT industry?

The sudden onset of the global pandemic jolted the IT industry into action (accelerated is an understatement). Companies had to switch to remote working almost overnight, relying on digital technologies for communication, collaboration, and even competition. Two years later, the IT industry is still trying to bring employees back to offices. But we must understand that our lives have changed irreversibly. The new reality is to allow the flexibility of hybrid working for employees. With the rapid adoption of emerging digital technologies, we can expect fewer sales travel and customer visits.

What, as per you, are the five important things that Enquero- A Genpact Company should be looking at today?

  • Explore new opportunities that cloud-native technologies offer and encourage faster adoption of cloud-based applications and enterprise data.
  • Build an employer brand that fosters an employee-centric org culture: people, policies, and growth opportunities.
  • Expect the unexpected. Prepare for the next global disruption.
  • Drive a data-driven culture. Enable people, processes, and systems to make decisions based on data.
  • Enable digital technologies for seamless collaboration and level the playing field for employees irrespective of their locations.

How can small financial players overcome the challenges faced while adopting technology into their business?

  • Go for SaaS. It’s faster, cheaper, and safer.
  • Digital technology dramatically increases your reach. Embrace it for marketing, sales, operations, and customer service.
  • Start with security in mind. It’s harder to fix it later. But security shouldn’t become handcuffs for employees and customers. Allow freedom within a secure perimeter.
  • Stay asset light. You don’t need to own an extensive IT infrastructure to run your business. Much of it is available as a service.
  • Educate your employees on the use of technology. They need to know the systems better than their customers.

What changes is Enquero- A Genpact Company bringing to the industry?

  • A “Mybrid” model is one where employees choose a hybrid working model that works best for them; the company enables it.
  • Disrupt the traditional IT services business model by combining domain, data, and tech offerings.
  • Horses for courses. Small and mighty teams tailored to project needs, rather than the traditional pyramid structure (cookie-cutter approach)
  • Accelerate hiring decisions, new technology POCs, customer project execution.
  • Communicate clearly and precisely to customers and make employees aware of the potential benefits of policies.

How will work-from-home lead to a paradigm shift in the IT industry?

  • Trust-based employer-employee relationship. Physical presence doesn’t guarantee productivity.
  • Asynchronous communications take precedence. Team chats, blogs, and emails over phone calls and meetings.
  • An urgent need to develop a model to measure work. Hours as a measure of work are so outdated.
  • All cities and villages will be at the same tier. Great employees are everywhere.
  • Office spaces will be for socializing. Work can happen from anywhere.
