Whether you are a fresher or experienced person, your company is deducting a particular PF (Provident Fund) amount. I guess there is no need to explain 'Provident Fund', but its important to know how much amount is being deposited in your PF account.
Govt of India and EPFO made this process easy. You can check EPF balance in various ways, SMS, missed call and online (website and app).
Check EPF Balance via SMS
It's quite simple, you need to compose a message and send that to 7738299899. The format of the SMS should be- EPFOHO
In this “ENG” means your language which is preferably English. The language code will be the first three letters of the language, for example – ENG for English, HIN for Hindi and MAR for Marathi.
Check EPF Balance by Missed Call
Don’t want to send a message, simply dial 011-22901406 and disconnect the call after one ring. Wait for some time and you will receive a message with all the details.
Please note: Above both options will work only for users who have activated UAN and seeded with Aadhaar Card, Bank Account, and PAN.
Check EPF Balance on the EPF Portal
EPFO members can check their PF balance online by visiting the official website. Please follow the below-mentioned steps –
Step 1: Visit epfindia.gov.in
Step 2: Hover your mouse on the ‘Our Services’ drop-down menu, and click on ‘For Employees’. This will redirect you to a new page.
Step 3: Now go to the ‘Services’ menu, and click on ‘Member Passbook’. It will take you to the login page, now login to your account to proceed further. Or to cut short directly visit – https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login.jsp
Step 4: Now you can see your member ID or IDs if you have multiple EPF accounts. Click on the member id for which you want to view the passbook.
Step 5: The EPF passbook will appear on the screen, you can now check your PF balance.
Please note: It will only work for members who have activated their UAN and have registered on the UAN Member Portal.
Check EPF Balance using the Umang App
EPFO made our life easier, you can simply download the Umang app on your phone and login to the app. This app lets you check your PF balance and download the passbook.
Step 1: Download the Umang app from the Play Store/App Store
Step 2: Open the app and click on EPFO
Step 3: Now fill in the details to log in.
Step 4: Select ‘Employee Centric Services'
Step 5: Click on 'View Passbook'.
Step 6: Select your member ID for which you want to check the PF balance
Step 7: You will see your passbook along with your PF balance.
You should also do EPFO UAN activation to get more benefits from Govt of India.
