Due to the pandemic, UIDAI has announced a major Aadhaar Card update, through which people can change their details from home. Now, you can update your Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Address and Language online from the comfort of your home. That is, you don't have to visit any Aadhaar Kendra, the UIDAI said in a tweet. All the updates will cost you INR 50.
Aadhaar card has now become one of the most important documents to use at various facilities. It is an ID card for Indians to avail benefits from social schemes and other such purposes.
Follow these steps to update your name, date of birth, gender, address on your Aadhaar card:
• Visit the Official Page to Update Aadhar Card.
• To verify, one needs to submit his/her Aadhaar card number. The page will use a Captcha and a code sent to your mobile number.
• Many options for updation like name, address, date of birth, mobile number, language, gender and email will appear.
• Select the option you want to update. Here, select the "Update Address" option.
• After filling all the details, you will have to upload an ID as address proof in PDF, JPEG, or PNG format.
• Then, it will ask youto pay an online payment of Rs 50, which can be done through debit/credit card or net banking.
• After this, an URN code will be sent to the mobile number with confirmation as soon as the payment is successful. You will be able to track the process of updation later through this code.
Initially, you had to file a request with UIDAI to change address. After that, you had to go to an authorised enrolment or update centre. In fact, if you still do not have a registered Mobile number while enrolling for Aadhaar, you are required to visit a Permanent Enrolment Centre to get it registered.
