The direct carrier billing feature on Google Play India is now available for Vodafone and Airtel users as well. Earlier the service was only available for Idea subscribers. At present, postpaid users can avail this feature, and there is no information about when will the prepaid customers will experience this service.
In order to make sure these services work on your android, make sure you haven't exceeded the monthly spending limit. Along with having subscribed to service plans tht allow premium content purchases.
This feature will now enable its users to buy apps and other digital content from Google Play using their carrier bills. For example, when you buy an app, you'll see the charge on your carrier account after 15 minutes.
The Google support page for payments will now reflect Vodafone and Airtel as supported carriers just like it showed Idea on the list earlier. AS per reports, this feature is currently live for select users currently, and is presumably trickling down in phases to all compatible users.
