A CAG official, on condition of anonymity, spoke to CiOL and said, “We have no idea how all news agencies have understood the notification as vacancies. The notification is only an invitation to comments to raise an issue in case of any discrepancies.”

He also said that the department has received calls from several anxious students who have been misled. “In fact, the notification clearly mentions, that from this year, the department aims to release vacancies state-wise. The numbers mentioned in the notification are the number of people in every section. When these get vacant, only then there will be openings,” he cleared.

Answering what kind of comments can people provide, he said, “The invitation asks stakeholders whether they have any issues with the new draft of Rules and Regulation. Say, a stakeholder finds that the age limit of 27 years is not acceptable, or someone else thinks that the method of admission like direct recruitment (50%) is not acceptable, they can write to Shri V S Venkatanathan.” “This is not an invitation to apply to CAG Recruitment 2021. Please go through the notification first,” he cleared.
