The late diva of 90's, Blackberry, is trying hard to stand with the latest kids - Samsung, Apple, Lenovo - of this day. With the BlackBerry Priv, the company releases its first premium Android smartphone forRs 62,500. A smartphone which is heavier and pricier than iPhone 6S is widely available across the US.
The Blackberry Priv with legendary security has a 5.4-inch quad HD display with Gorilla Glass 4 and QWERTY keypad. The display is excellent and the colors are vibrant. The 18-megapixel Schneider-Kreuznach camera is undone by 2-megapixel selfie camera. Hardware comes with a 64-bit Snapdragon 808 hexacore system-on-chip (SoC) and 3,410mAh battery.
Though the features look good, they aren’t great to create a ripple. With the kind of specifications available in the market at throwaway prices, Priv fails to catch too many eyeballs with its humongous price tag.
BlackBerry is backing up the sales of Priv with exciting offers. With every purchase of a Priv, through carrier partner AT&T, the company is offering a free Slide-Out Hard Shell Case with Kick Stand and Sync Pod, a total retail value of $90.
While the BlackBerry Priv's sales numbers haven't been great, they've been enough to offer some courage to the crestfallen company.
BlackBerry Priv might be the best BlackBerry ever, but not the best smartphone.
