MUMBAI, INDIA: West Bengal will soon have its own database for agriculture and MSME sectors.
The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) has appointed Frost & Sullivan (F&S) as consultant for the project.
Affirming the development, Ambarish Dasgupta, President, BCCI, said that F&S has already begun data collection. The Chamber’s research cell would interpret the data for policy advocacy to the state government in these sectors.
“Post this, F&S would do independent data collection, as well as procure data from the state government and other sources for analysis. State’s economy quite significantly depends on the performance of the two dominant sectors,” he said.
“The State lacks a structured policy framework for the two sectors. We would also study the Maharashtra’s agricultural policy framework, supposedly the best in the country to draw from it,” he added.
Plans are also afoot to create databases for state’s health sector, skill development and poverty alleviation. The State has taken multiple initiatives in health sector," he mentioned.
