For those of you who didn’t like iPhone 7 and chose not to upgrade to the latest device, we have a piece of some good news for you. What if you can’t buy the new iPhone, you can surely make your old phone feel like a new one with the Apple’s new iOS 10 software.
Apple’s latest OS version comes packed with interesting features, refinements and optimizations though not much in terms of innovation.
Starting with the positives - first comes Message app which has been upgraded from boring SMS app and service before to an all-in-one dedicated messaging app where you can draw on your photos, use bubble effects and even send effects that simply take over the screen.
The icing on the cake is of course the new iMessage apps. In a few months, everything you would do with someone else in a dedicated app will be possible in iMessage. Sending a Citymapper itinerary, playing chess, sending money, exchanging stickers and many, many more things will live inside the Messages app.
Apple’s Maps app has been enhanced with third-party app integration, the Music app has been redesigned to be much more user-friendly, and Apple’s lock screen experience has been completely revamped with refined widgets. Then there is this convenient new raise-to-wake feature. Siri is dramatically improved, the Photos app has been revamped and there’s plenty more to enjoy.
But the real winner amidst all the renovation is the app store. Apple knows that people are getting bored with apps so the Cupertino giant has brought in some small changes that actually feel good. Review time is noticeably shorter and developers can buy search ads. Apple is also removing abandoned apps from the App Store plus you can now install apps from your iMessage conversation or from Apple Maps.
