WWDC 2021 comes in the virtual format for the second time starting June 7. The tech giant might provide the iOS 15 release date during the event. After it announces the iOS, the company will make it available for developers for testing and then, the public. WWDC will likely also announce the iPad-specific iPad OS 15 along with the iOS 15 release date, or at least a preview this month. The company may roll out the iOS 15 for the public later in 2021 around the third or fourth week of September; a few days before we get the new iPhone 13 lineup in our hands as well.
With the release of iOS 14.5, the iPhone got a handful of new features. Some included new ad-tracking permissions, new Siri voices and the Face ID unlocking while wearing a face mask. Reports suggest that at WWDC 2021, Apple will announce iOS 15 among a raft of other announcements.
iOS 15 release date and roll-out
Reports suggest that Apple will reveal iOS 15 on WWDC 2021. Others suggest that Apple will release the first beta of iOS 15 right after the opening keynote of WWDC 2021. Since the new OS will be a little buggy and unstable, you can install it on your phone, but it will not work very well. According to The Verifier and French site iPhoneSoft, iOS 15 will require an iPhone 7 or later. CNET suggested that the iPhone 6 models are now more than five years old, and run on the A9 chip, and the iOS 15 will require devices with an A10 chip, thus, iOS will work only from iPhone 7 and beyond, and the seventh-gen iPod Touch.
Some features in the iOS 15 will include a new notification shade that also allows interactive widgets. Further, the company aims to safeguard user privacy better by showing the list of apps that silently collect user data (and what). Apple is also working on some iMessage updates to ensure it can compete against WhatsApp and Messenger.
