CIOL Myanmar’s mobile connectivity: Building from scratch

CHENNAI: On the World Wi-Fi Day(June 20) two villages in Tamil Nadu- Purasakkudi and Mangudi will get internet connectivity.

These are no ordinary villages as they were homes to India’s top two physicists, Sir C.V. Raman and Dr. Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.

Internet & Wi-Fi service provider Microsense has taken the task of setting up Wi-Fi hotspots for internet access in these two villages.

Microsense is a company focused on connectivity and networking with a track record of extensive deployment of Wi-Fi Hotspots in Hotels, Airports, Malls, Stadia, Coffee Shops, Hotels, Colleges, Hospitals and Townships.

The trigger was the appeal by the Wireless Broadband Alliance, a global body that is committed to connecting the unconnected and had appealed to all its members to do something special on June 20, the inaugural Wi-Fi Day being celebrated worldwide.

To begin with, Microsense will be setting up Wi-Fi hotspots for internet access at a few locations in the village that includes the Panchayat Office and residential localities using Microsense’s Cloud Wi-Fi platform.

Microsense will donate two laptop computers also to the Mangudi government aided village school and a desktop as a common resource for use by the villagers.
