NEW DELHI: Very soon, getting an LPG connection will get hassle free.
In a bid to boost Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s digital India initiative, state-run fuel companies will launch a Web-based booking system for LPG connections.
The facility will be available on the government's LPG portal Pahal as well as on the websites of each oil company.
The Web portal will also allow customers to buy cooking stoves; thereby eliminating harassment by dealers who hoodwinked them into buying cook-tops long with their LPG connection.
Upon completing the application process, the system will generate unique customer ID number which will be forwarded to the customer via email or SMS within 48 hours. Simultaneously the system will contact a local dealer.
All payments have to be made online. Once the vertification is completed the dealer will deliver the regulator, cylinder and rubber pipe to the new consumer. The entire process will be completed in a week.
A toll free number will be displayed on all the websites to address grievances.
