Amit Sinha, the VP of One97 Communications to be the COO of Paytm Mall

Paytm has appointed Amit Sinha as the COO of Paytm Mall, the e-commerce wing of Paytm. Amit Sinha, who is currently the vice-president looking after business and human resources at One97 Communications, will be responsible for overall operations, hiring, category management, and logistics at Paytm Mall.

Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma said in a statement, "At Paytm Mall, we are addressing a unique opportunity of giving small businesses, and retailers access to mobile internet technology to address India’s large mobile consumer base. Amit’s experience in building various businesses since their inception makes him our best choice to lead our commerce business."

Sinha joined One97 in 2007, and since then he has handled several key business roles at Paytm and helped implement critical business and processes for the company.

The latest move comes weeks after One 97 Communications named another group veteran Renu Satti as head of the payments bank unit.

Two months ago, Paytm E-Commerce had enlisted SAIF Partner’s Ravi Adusumalli and four top executives from Alibaba into its board of directors. These included Jason Pak Tung Yip, Alibaba’s senior director of finance, and Jing Xiandong, chief executive of Alibaba’s payments affiliate Ant Financial.
