Amazon India beats Google & Flipkart to become India’s most attractive Internet brand

MUMBAI, INDIA: 'India's Most Attractive Brands Study 2016' results are out and you will be surprised with the rankings. Leaving the search engine giant, Google behind, Amazon India has been ranked as the most attractive Internet brand in India.

"For the first time in three years, Amazon has been declared as the most attractive Internet brand (96th rank overall)" said the study carried out by Trust Research Advisory (TRA).

Google emerged as the second-most attractive Internet brand in the country, followed by Flipkart in the third position in the Internet category. Google's overall ranking was 102, while Flipkart jumped to 125th rank.

TRA Chief Executive Officer N Chandramouli said, "The Internet category has seen a surprising shift in the top ranks, with Amazon ranking higher than Google, implying a serious improvement in the appeal of conducting transactions online."

The study was based on primary research conducted on close to 3,000 consumers across 16 cities.
Korean electronics giant LG topped the list, pushing Tata conglomerate to the seventh spot this year, from 5 in 2014 and 4 in 2015.

Facebook, the social networking giant, was placed fourth in the category, it rose 202 ranks in the national rankings to 157th position in 2016.

Other Internet brands in the study included WhatsApp (339), Paytm (341), Myntra (397), YouTube (500), Twitter (506), Ola (605) and JustDial (786).

Out of the 29 brands listed in the study, 11 brands were online retailers. "Expected brands like Shopclues (461 rank) and Uber (483) were listed in the Internet category along with some surprising entrants like Koovs (477), Voonik (937) and Oyo Rooms (948)," said Chandramouli.
