Amagi, a leader in cloud-based channel playout announced its U.S. launch, making the company’s CloudPort platform available immediately to the US. television broadcasters as well as digital OTT (over-the-top) channels. The company is already working with international names like Vice Media and Turner Broadcasting, offering them an alternative to satellite and fiber delivery. It helps them to support the expansion of TV networks across geographies and onto hybrid platforms to reach new audiences.
In contrast to the already popular use of satellites for broadcasting on TV, Amagi’s CloudPort platform uses cloud infrastructure to deliver the same content. However, as a TV viewer we might not be able to see much of a difference in quality of service.
But, compared to satellite delivery this CloudPort platform is inexpensive, time-saving and helps a broadcaster to customize their content for different geographies. It enables broadcasters to setup and monitor multiple feeds as well as localize content. CloudPort uses AI to addresses tasks such as managing schedules and detecting black frames.
Recently, Amagi had also announced that its CloudPort multichannel cloud playout platform can be deployed on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. Owing to this development, Amagi CloudPort users also have the option to operate on one of the most widely used cloud-computing platforms in the world.
K.A. Srinivasan, co-founder of Amagi, said, “As TV networks transition to cloud as their de-facto infrastructure, their concerns revolve around content security, compliance, scalability and availability. Microsoft Azure checks all the boxes, especially offering such world-class service on a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) model. It enables our customers to be competitive, and respond to their audience needs in a timely manner.”
Amagi has also successfully established itself as India's largest online media planning and buying platform for television advertising.
