When Mukesh Ambani officially launched Reliance Jio telecom services last year, it had a domino effect in the telecom industry with the data costs coming down to match Jio's low tariffs. The telco may have started another trend of 4G VoLTE feature phones. Barely ten days after Reliance Jio launched a 4G phone at an “effective price of Rs 0," domestic handset maker Intex too unveiled its first 4G VoLTE feature phone ‘Intex Turbo+ 4G’ as part of its feature phone series ‘Navratna’.
Intex Turbo+ 4G is a Rs 1999 phone with a 2.4-inch QVGA display and it runs KaiOS software. The feature phone is powered by a dual-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. On the camera front, the Intex Turbo+ 4G comes with a 2-megapixel primary rear camera and a front VGA camera for taking selfies. The Intex Turbo+ 4G has a 2000mAh battery and comes with 4GB built-in storage, which is expandable up to 32GB.
“We wanted to upgrade feature phone users and give them the taste of a smartphone through our first Smart Feature Phone – the Turbo+ 4G. With this, feature phone users will get high voice call quality, a seamless experience of the internet and the power of connecting with the world via a mobile,” said Ishita Bansal, Product Head - Mobiles, Intex Technologies.
Besides Intex Turbo+ 4G, the company also launched eight other feature phone models from different series- ECO, Turbo, Ultra and Lion- the prices for which range between Rs 700 and Rs 1500.
